Bam Adebayo Reveals Conversation With Michael Jordan on His 83-Point Game

Bam Adebayo was the absolute show-stealer in the Miami Heat’s last game, so much so that even Michael Jordan could not keep silent.
The Heat hasn’t lost a single game in March, going for a 5-game winning streak. On March 11, they dished out a 150-129 upset to the Washington Wizards. And seeing Adebayo bagging 83 of those 150 hoops, Jordan just had to reach out.
“Just congratulations. Very short and sweet. If you know Mike, he’s not talking a lot”, explained the Heat Center to an ESPN Countdown interview, when asked what Jordan said to him for his accomplishment.
Despite averaging 20.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists this season, Adebayo went neck to neck with big names like Kobe Bryant (81 PTS) and Wilt Chamberlain (100 PTS). Against the Wizards, the Miami 13 even added 9 rebounds and 3 assists.
So, the elusive call from Jordan may have been “short and sweet”, but it carried the immense weight of recognition. The scoreboards may shift over time, but the moment will remain. Moreover, there’s a reason why Adebayo’s feat is extra special.
What Makes Bam Adebayo’s Feat So Special?
The 6'9" Heat center is known for his 2-way play, but his hallmark is defensive versatility and impact.
Having been named to the NBA All-Defensive Team 5x and finishing in the Top 5 in Defensive Player of the Year for 4 consecutive years, Adebayo is the defensive signal caller for the Heat.
So, when the defensive motor goes off in the offensive line, that is enough reason to be shocked. He is why the Heat ranks high in defense. And now, Adebayo is also the top scorer in a single NBA game in 2026.
So, having Michael Jordan go out of his way to appreciate that stat shows just how much it matters. The Heat will play the Milwaukee Bucks on March 13.
As they slowly dive into games with top-seeded teams, which new record do you think is awaiting Adebayo?
