"By Far the Most Potential": Draymond Green Breaks Down the Freakish Upside of Caleb Wilson

Draymond Green is going against the consensus for the 2026 NBA Draft. The Warriors star believes Caleb Wilson is the clear choice for the Washington Wizards, highlighting a noteworthy upside in his game.

Many leaned toward BYU freshman AJ Dybansta for the top pick, given the rising star’s offensive explosion, leading the nation with 25.5 ppg. However, speaking on The Draymond Green Show, the Warriors veteran picked Caleb Wilson over anyone else in the 2026 draft class.

“I think Caleb Wilson is the most special player in this draft. I think Caleb Wilson would fit with the Washington Wizards so well… He has by far the most potential in this draft. No questions asked.”

Speaking of the North Carolina freshman, Green considered him a “bit clumsy” but went on to marvel at the skill he brought with it.

He continued, “Imagine being clumsy and as good as he is,” before clarifying that he didn’t mean it in a negative way. With that, DrayMagic was compared with the former No. 1 pick, Victor Wembanyama.

“He's still figuring his body out like Victor Wembanyama is still figuring his body out,” Green explained.

“Falls over at the most random times when you shouldn't fall over. And he's already as good as he is. That's what makes it so interesting. That's when you talk when you start talking upside now and that's upside.”

Green implied that Wemby still loses balance at simple movements despite his exploits on both ends of the floor.

Similarly, he believed that Caleb Wilson would go on to develop into a dominant player while he showed signs of greatness.

Will Caleb Wilson Become a Perfect Wizards Roster Fit?

Green has no doubts that the Wizards will be a good fit for Wilson.

“He’s athletic as h***, super skilled, talented, and got the dog in him,” highlighting his freshman year stats.

Wilson recorded 19.8 PPG, 9.4 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.5 SPG, and 1.5 BPG, while shooting at 57.8% FG.

Looking at the Wizards’ roster, Wilson could come in handy at the number 5 spot. Given that, the team has listed only former No.2 pick Alex Sarr as the only center on the roster. If he starts as a backup center and slowly graduates into a starting five, the Wizards do have a bright future.

Moreover, with the veteran experience of Anthony Davis and Trae Young alongside a bunch of young bloods in action, the Wizards could have a deep run in the upcoming season.

At the same time, several trade rumors emerged surrounding AD.

So, the Wizards have a lot to work around, especially with Giannis Antetokounmpo looming in the trade market.

Do you think the Washington Wizards should go for Caleb Wilson with their first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft? Let us know in the comments.
