Dennis Rodman’s Daughter Reveals the Surprising Way He Handled Money With His Kids

Dennis Rodman's daughter, Trinity Rodman, has built an exceptional career for herself as one of the finest women's soccer players around. But beneath the stardom is a daughter who had to face a rough childhood.

More than a decade after the divorce of Dennis Rodman and Michelle Moyer, Trinity finally opened up about a tough period of her life during an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.

According to Trinity, Dennis was usually absent during much of her childhood days, and had to witness her parents frequently arguing as she grew older. Many of the disagreements centered around money and how the former Chicago Bulls star wanted everything in his control.

“My dad, he likes to be in control. So, he would take us shopping, get us phones, do this, do that,” Trinity shared. “Me and my brother are like, ‘We don’t wanna go shopping. We just want money to go get In and Out after school with our friends.’ So, it was like he wouldn’t give us money to do that."

"He needed to have the control of bringing us shopping and swiping his own card. But if we ask, ‘Hey, could we have $100 to go get food, to get my ears pierced. Like just little stuff like that. He was like, ‘No, you’re using me.’ …. all this stuff.” Trinity added.

The former USC star also spoke about how difficult the environment at home was, with Dennis battling alcoholism and many people coming and going from the house.

Eventually, Moyer became the primary parent for Trinity and her brother, NBA G League player DJ Rodman. But the financial disputes did not stop, as court proceedings followed.

Thankfully, Trinity got out of all this mess in some fashion, as she is now the highest-paid women's soccer player in the world

Following this announcement, Rodman shared his reaction to her estranged daughter's successes.

Dennis Rodman is Proud of Trinity and Apologizes to Her

Trinity signed a three-year contract extension worth over $2 million annually with the Washington Spirit on January 23, according to ESPN. This makes her the highest-paid women's soccer player in the world.

The 23-year-old surpassed FC Barcelona's Aitana Bonmati, who previously held this honor.

While Dennis and Trinity do not get along well, the Bulls icon posted the news on his Instagram Story alongside the lyrics to Drake and Nicki Minaj’s song “Make Me Proud.” He also wrote, “History.”

Still, this congratulatory message will not erase the years of trauma Trinity has had to face since her childhood, and she has also gone on the record to say that Dennis is "not a dad, maybe by blood, but nothing else. Hearing his voice is painful.”

In response to Trinity’s statements on Alex Cooper’s podcast, Dennis addressed his daughter in a since-deleted Instagram post.

“Sorry I wasn’t the dad you wanted me to be but either way I still tried and I still try and never will stop,” he wrote.

“I will keep trying even when you’re being told as an adult not to respond to my phone calls. I will try even when it’s difficult and if it takes a long time.”

“I’m always here and tell you all the time—rather it’s your voice or voicemail—how proud I am,” he continued. “I always had one wish and it was I wish my kids would call me and come see me. Hopefully one day I can get that…You see me calling, I’m still here.”

While it is rather heartbreaking to read Dennis' sentiments, it is up to Trinity to decide if she wants to have a relationship with his father.

So, do you think Trinity will ever choose to reconcile with Dennis? Let us know in the comments.
