Skip Bayless just criticized Dillon Brooks over a surprising courtside ticket secret. The famous sports commentator feels betrayed by an unexpected podcast confession.

Skip Bayless criticized Brooks once he revealed how he scored his courtside seat for a Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder playoff game. Bayless believes this single admission damaged the tough reputation Brooks built over the years as a longtime rival of LeBron James.

“I just lost respect for Dillon Brooks, who admits he got his courtside seat at the Lakers' playoff game from Rich Paul. Come on, don't sell out to LeBron. Don't lose your "Dillon the Villain" edge vs LBJ. Don't turn into Draymond, going from LBJ enemy to business partner,” Bayless posted. 

During the Road Trippin' show, Brooks admitted that Rich Paul arranged his front-row courtside seat while the Lakers faced a playoff elimination. 

Bayless viewed the act of accepting a special favor from Paul as a hit to the credibility Brooks earned against James. He meant that taking freebies from an opponent's agent compromises the purity of their rivalry. 

Bayless cited Draymond Green as a prime example. He pointed out how Green transformed from an on-court rival during the intense Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors Finals matchups into a Klutch Sports client and close friend of James. 

Bayless used Green as the example of a rivalry softening into a business relationship.

This entire ticket confession occurred while revisiting a playoff moment that made Brooks' "villain" reputation look stronger than ever.

The rivalry between LeBron James and Dillon Brooks

During Game 4 of the 2026 Western Conference semifinals, the Thunder defeated the Lakers 115-110 on May 11, completing a 4-0 sweep. Brooks, who was playing for the Phoenix Suns at the time, sat courtside after his own team was already knocked out of the postseason. 

On the Road Trippin’ podcast, Brooks explained that Paul helped him secure those exact luxury seats. He mentioned how funny it was to watch James argue with a random fan while the entire Lakers season was on the brink of ending. 

This history of trash talk goes all the way back to the old Memphis Grizzlies and Lakers games. Brooks told reporters, "I poke bears," and added, "I don't respect no one until they come and give me 40." 

He even claimed that James likes people who bow down, stating that he refuses to do so. Meanwhile, James brushes off the talk by saying "Next question" or posting jabs like his famous "Help the bear" caption on Instagram after winning a series.

The two competitors have faced each other 27 times, splitting between 21 regular-season games and 6  playoff battles. James holds an 18-9 record in those matchups. Over those specific games, James averages around 23.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. 

Brooks averages about 12.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, but he has built his NBA identity by challenging superstars regardless of the stats.
