Draymond Green Makes Blunt Admission About Stephen Curry's Injury Return

Mar 30, 2026, 7:40 PM CUT

Stephen Curry has been out of action for a month now, and there are rumors that the Golden State Warriors star might be returning to action very soon. However, Curry's stablemate Draymond Green wants the 2x MVP to be extra cautious.

The Warriors' defensive star recently spoke to Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle and clarified that he didn’t want Curry to rush his return as the regular season approaches its end.

“If he has an inkling of doubt, he shouldn’t play,” Green said. “But if he’s healthy and he can play, then I’m all for it.”

Green also said, “And when he hasn’t come back yet… that’s when you start looking at the clock. Not like, ‘When’s he coming back?’ But more like, 'What’s going on?'”

In a viral video on X earlier this week, Curry was seen working out with WNBA star, Sabrina Ionescu. He seemed like he was physically ready to take the court. There is an expectation that he will be reevaluated very soon.

However, there is still uncertainty about the superstar player's return. After his injury against the Pistons, Curry’s reevaluation timeline was two weeks, and subsequently, one week after another was added to ‌his return timeline. Now there is no certainty if Curry would even return to the lineup this season

Curry is in the last stage of his career, and it’s hard for him to miss games, especially chances of playing in the playoffs. The Warriors will play in the Play-In Tournament, and without Curry, their chance of winning two games without Curry is very thin.

However, amid all the talk around his return, there is a legitimate question about the total gain from his return.

Should the Warriors Plan Ahead of Stephen Curry’s Return?

Unquestionably, the Warriors' chances of winning Play-In games without Curry aren't pretty high. However, it is yet another big question that would also be crucial in the Warriors’ decision about his return.

In a loaded Western Conference, the Warriors, even with Curry, have a very small chance of going beyond the first round. The Dubs are currently ranked 10th in the conference. Even in the best-case scenario in the Play-In, they would have to face the OKC Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs. Winning four games against two of the best teams in the league is an impossibility.

That raises a question about the total value of Curry’s return. The Warriors can either bring him back and exit in the first round, or not bring him back, which would give him extra rest. He can come extra rested next season, and with some offseason moves, the Warriors can get back in contention.

However, like Green said earlier this week, nothing is guaranteed when things are left for the unforeseen future.

So, when do you think Steph will return to the court?
