Draymond Green Warns Knicks Fans About One Big Problem After Playoff Wins

The New York Knicks’ Game 2 win over the Philadelphia 76ers probably called for a celebration. But Draymond Green took a stand against it.

The Eastern Conference semifinals have been going pretty positively for the Knicks, as they lead the series 2-0 with their last 108-102 victory coming on May 6. However, on Inside the NBA, it was the Knicks fanbase that Green had a warning for.

“I’m going to tell you a problem the Knicks are going to have. They win these games; it’s the second round of the playoffs. And everybody is running around having parades,” Green stated. “Let’s not have a parade before you win the thing, Knicks fans.”

The 4x NBA champion also hinted at the JR Smith incident. After the Knicks’ Game 1 win, Smith was trampled in a celebratory parade. And after he fell to the ground, the crowd recorded the incident rather than helping.

He also implied that these parades, after small wins, give the players a false sense of victory. And then, the fans “wonder why your players quit in the Conference Finals. It’s because “They got the parade already.”

This critique was harsh, but it made a solid point. However, it was easy to see Green’s comments in a negative light, given the similar remarks he made before as well.

Draymond Green’s Previous Statement on the New York Knicks

The Knicks currently stand at a 53-29 record and have been looking like solid playoff contenders. However, back in 2025, the Golden State Warriors’ star didn’t feel the same way and had some harsh critiques.

“The Knicks, I just don’t believe that they’re contenders,” said Green on his podcast. “I don’t think they have what it takes to win at the highest level. I think you can stifle their offense and make it hard on them.”

During the time of this remark, the Knicks ranked 10th in defense, while the Warriors stood at 12th. Even so, Green stated that, “Ultimately, guys that don’t really want to defend make it tough to win at the highest level.”

So, what do you think of Green’s comments about the Knicks’ fanbase? Let us know in the comments.
