Draymond Green Weighs in on Stephen Curry's Injury Return

It’s been almost two months since Stephen Curry has been out of action with an injury. Draymond Green has weighed in on Stephen Curry's extended injury absence.
His comments came after Golden State's win over the Nets on 26th March, 2026, fueling debate on whether their superstar should return this season. He gave a new update on his superstar teammate shortly after Curry's workout video with Sabrina Ionescu went viral on social media.
In a press interview, Green was asked if Curry should make his return, with the Play-In Tournament fixed for the Dubs. While the Warriors have denied any intention of shutting down Curry for the season, they may perhaps get him fully healthy for the next season.
"I think it’s a slippery slope, telling a guy who loved basketball, you can't come back and play basketball when they feel like they’re healthy enough to win basketball," Green said. "So I think that if there’s an inkling of a doubt with his knee. No, I don’t."
Curry has been out with a runner’s knee since the Warriors vs Detroit Pistons game in the week of January. However, Green added that Curry should play if he felt he was healthy enough.
"But if he's healthy and he can play, absolutely. Because that's what you put the work in for. To give yourself a chance to have a great season, to get into the postseason, and to flourish on that stage. You don't know how many opportunities you get." Green concluded.
Is Stephen Curry going to return this season?
It has been a month since this conversation picked up. The debate over his return has valid points on both sides
The Warriors’ update on Curry’s recovery started with two weeks timeline, and wasn’t considered a serious injury. But after two months, it has been proven otherwise.
The Warriors are a Play-In team and would have to compete in the tournament to make the playoffs. However, their ceiling doesn’t go beyond the first round. There are voices that have urged the Warriors to shut down Curry and bring him fresh next season.
However, Green doesn’t think that’s always a good idea. "You can always kick the can down the road and say, 'Oh man, we'll get back to it. ' But that don’t always work like that," Green added.
"Last year, we didn't kick the can down the road, and unfortunately, Steph got hurt. But say we kicked the can down the road last year, like, 'Oh man, we'll get it back next year.’ And then look at this year."
The Warriors could bide their time by keeping their superstar on the sidelines. However, for a player like Curry, who is at the end of his career, sitting out is an opportunity lost.
