Some signings can even take years before getting completed. One such signing is that of the 2011 NBA Draft’s eighth overall pick, who was recently signed by the Perth Wildcats.
Brandon Knight had played nine seasons in the league and made 451 appearances before this NBL27 signing came into effect.

Knight has now officially signed with the Perth Wildcats for the 2026/27 NBL season after the Wildcats confirmed his contract signing, although it is still awaiting league approval.
It marks the end of the saga that began last season during the inaugural HoopsFest window, where he was touted as an import replacement.
Perth looked to sign Knight back in January as cover for their injured Perth import David Duke Jr., but no deal was reached before that transfer window closed.
More than 18 months later, the very guard who averaged 18.0 points and 6.3 assists for Puerto Rico last year finally moves West.
The general manager of Perth, Danny Mills, provided an explanation regarding how Perth filled its last roster spot.
He said, "We're going to bring in the right guy. We waited and got [Kristian] Doolittle, and then we waited and got [Dylan] Windler. It's about patience. We're not going to just bring a guy in to bring a guy in."
The patience of Mills is consistent with that of Knight based on his track record abroad, having been the Puerto Rican League MVP in 2023 with Piratas de Quebradillas, followed by 18.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game with Mets de Guaynabo, the same team which has produced the Adelaide 36ers guard Bryce Cotton.
It is no secret that this production has not gone unnoticed in Australian basketball.
Jason Cadee Backs Brandon Knight To Push Perth Towards A Title
Ex-NBL player Jason Cadee evaluated the transfer on his program called Cut to the Jase. He feels that Knight can help the Wildcats win the championship.
Cadee said, "Brandon has been a very good player for a long period of time. Obviously out of the NBA for a few years now, but playing well in a league a lot of NBL players now go to in Puerto Rico."
He added, "It'll be interesting to see how he translates, but his name has been floated around the NBL for a few years now, so it's good to see it come to life, and can he be the missing link to take Perth to a title. I think he 100% will help them."
John Rillie, who is the head coach, used Boomers guards like Elijah Pepper and Anthony Dell’Orso as shooting guards in the pre-season, meaning that the coming of Knight at such a time was ideal for Perth since they will be facing South East Melbourne in their NBL27 match on September 19.
