Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant's latest comment about LeBron James' move to the Philadelphia 76ers has come under fire. Fans slammed the veteran superstar for equating the new Sixers' squad with the 2017 Golden State Warriors.

Durant signed with the Warriors in 2017, a move many called the "weakest move by a superstar player" for joining an already elite team in the Bay Area. Discussing LeBron's move, Durant believes the Sixers had an "unfair" advantage over the rest of the league.

"The last time they put three 20-point scorers on a team, they said it was unfair, which was the Warriors team I was on," Durant told reporters on Monday at a USA basketball event, per ESPN. "They have four 25-point scorers on this team."

The Sixers now have two MVPs (LeBron and Joel Embiid) and two certified 25-point players (Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey).

The Sixers have a very high ceiling with the current roster, with perhaps the deepest roster in the NBA. But does it put them in the same position as the 2017 Warriors, Durant told ESPN on August 2.

However, fans largely disagreed with Durant. They slammed the two-time champion for making a comparison between an NBA dynasty and a team with a 43-year championship drought.

Durant won two championships and two Finals MVPs with the Warriors. However, that hasn't softened the backlash over his comparison.

Fans made their sentiments obvious by flooding the comments section of an X post by ESPN highlighting Durant's take.

One fan fired back, saying, "He’s so salty. The comparison isn’t even close lol."

This 76ers team exited in the second round last season following a clean sweep by the New York Knicks. The 2017 Warriors without Durant recorded 73 wins in the previous season, most by any team in NBA history.

But some fans felt that Durant was just trying to erase the "ring-chaser" narrative linked to him.

"KD is so desperate to clear his name as a ring chaser just further proves how delusional he is. Two things can be true at the same time. KD is one of the best 15 players to ever touch a basketball, but since 2017, he’s only loyal to himself and the next super team that can win," one fan wrote.

"Did Bron lose against this same Philly team after being up 3-1? That was always the saddest part of KD’s move," one fan pushed back.

The Warriors reached the NBA Finals after defeating Durant-led Thunder in seven games. The Thunder had blown a 3-1 lead in the series.

"Am I the only one who thought he was talking bout Brooklynn?" a fan asked.

It's a legitimate guess. The 2021 Brooklyn Nets featured KD, Kyrie Irving and James Harden, putting together a few of the greatest offensive forces on paper.

However, not everyone was overwhelmed with the Sixers' squad.

"Sixers finna be ass. I promise you that. Way overhyped," one fan wrote.

While the roster isn't overhyped, success is still not guaranteed for the Sixers. They need to figure out a lot before even getting themselves in contention.
