LeBron James was known for making a career out of maximum deals and high-profile acquisitions, and now his latest decision has sparked a conversation that has little to do with skills and a lot to do with the motive behind them.

A long-time veteran and sports anchor, Rob Parker took no time to rip apart LeBron James' choice to team up with the already stacked Philadelphia 76ers team on his Fox Sports Radio show.

"The whole idea is that LeBron is officially, I guess it's always been the case, just a ring chaser. He's the ultimate ring chaser, and you gotta look at it and go. It's just pathetic," Parker said.

The frustration on Parker’s part is down to timing. James has become part of a team that is centered around Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown, therefore coming into an existing contender rather than being a part of building one.

The financial side only sharpens that critique. James signed for the veteran minimum, taking home 3.88 million dollars this season after earning 52.63 million last year with the Los Angeles Lakers. That's a 93 percent pay cut, and it's the lowest salary of his 23-year career.

Parker didn't stop at the ring-chasing label either.

"He is the G.O.A.T. Goes on another team. Here is LeBron James, at the end of his career, turning into a journeyman who will go anywhere," Parker added.

The comparison holds even more significance considering the earnings of James. He had the maximum-amount contract for fourteen consecutive years, and in total has earned over 580 million dollars in his career.

His new teammates Brown and Embiid will each make 57.7 million this year, more than fourteen times his salary, underscoring just how much James left on the table to chase one more title in Philadelphia.

That discount deal comes with one small perk James clearly still cares about.

That number carries real history, and James made sure to bring it with him to Philadelphia.

The 76ers confirmed James will wear No. 23, the same number he wore during his final three seasons with the Lakers. It's a return to the jersey most tied to his legacy, after wearing No. 6 in Miami and for parts of his Lakers run.

Josh Harris, the 76ers' managing partner, didn't hide his excitement in a press release welcoming James to the organization.

"I cannot wait to see LeBron alongside Jaylen Brown, VJ Edgecombe, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and our talented roster as we work to deliver a championship for Philly," Harris said.

This shows just how much that signing means to them. Philadelphia has not had a championship in 43 years, and now they have brought in the all-time leading scorer in the history of the NBA.

At 41, James is chasing something no player has ever done. A title with the Sixers would make him the first player to win championships with four different franchises, adding yet another first to an already record-filled career.
