LeBron James Reveals Feelings on First Father-Son Assist in NBA History

Mar 28, 2026, 4:11 PM CUT

LeBron James has quite literally passed the baton to his son, Bronny James, during their game against the Brooklyn Nets.

In the second quarter, ‘The King’ spotted his son in space and delivered a perfect pass, which the younger James connected smoothly for his only points of the night—a three-pointer assisted by his father. With that, they recorded the NBA’s first-ever father-son assist.

“Not taking it for granted …. That’s two games back-to-back playing meaningful minutes and him, also, making another play … Definitely a cool moment for us and also for our family,” LeBron said on the first father-son assist in NBA history.

Bronny echoed the same sentiment postgame, saying, “That was a special moment for us two, and a lot more to come down the road.”

That moment had been building for some time. Since joining the LA Lakers back in 2024, the family had been waiting for a moment when both father and son would shine, and almost two years later, they finally had it. That’s not all; LeBron James has something brutal to say as well.

LeBron James Shuts Down Doubts on Bronny James

LeBron has faced scrutiny since Bronny joined the Lakers roster. After the game, James addressed his son’s progress and development.

“Just getting back to where it was before the incident. He’s always been able to shoot the ball. He’s shot the ball at a high level throughout his years of playing ball. I think confidence, the rhythm, getting his strength back, his wind, and everything. Everything is just coming back,” said James.

People may have forgotten that Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest at USC in 2023. He is still less than three years removed from that terrifying incident, yet he is playing well. Given that, what are your thoughts on his achievement?
