Despite staying away from controversy throughout his illustrious career, negative limelight has never been separate from LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has tread very carefully throughout 23 years in the NBA. Unlike other superstars, James has largely been the most sober blueprint for generations. 

After Tiger Woods’ Florida car crash, the NBA star’s clean record has once again come to the surface. Fox Sports commentator Rob Parker recently highlighted the stark difference between the treatment Woods received in his career and that of the Lakers star. 

“The difference between Tiger Woods and LeBron James is day and night,” Parker said. “LeBron would be dragged all over the place if he were Tiger. Tiger gets a pass because of his impact on the sport...THEY ALL ATE!”

“There is a big difference between how people respond to LeBron and stuff that he does and how they respond to Tiger. And LeBron has done nothing close to endangering other people’s lives.”

In terms of impact on the game, LeBron’s career can’t be compared to Michael Jordan's. However, he has also been highly impactful in the modern NBA. 

While his career decisions have largely been controversial, from The Decision and forming what many call a superteam in Miami to not participating in the Dunk Contest, his persona outside the NBA court has been as clean as it can get. 

LeBron James and the Lakers met Tiger Woods, and he had questions for the legend

Two months ago, LeBron and his Lakers team were at Riviera Country Club. They scrapped their practice for an outing at the Genesis Invitational, Los Angeles’ annual PGA event in the Pacific Palisades. The plan was to meet Tiger Woods, who was hosting the event. 

The Lakers players had questions for the legend and drew inspiration from him. But LeBron had his own set of questions. 

“I asked him what the difference in the challenges of climbing the ranks was,” James told The Athletic about what he asked Woods during the meet. “What was the hardest challenge? Was it more of a challenge or harder to climb from zero to No. 1 — or stay at No. 1 knowing everybody was chasing you?”

Given his recent interest in golf, it was expected that he would ask for some tips. However, the Lakers star had a more important question for the legend, a kind of question that only legends like Jordan, Roger Federer, and Serena Williams could answer from experience.

Woods has been an absolute superstar in golf. However, the billionaire athlete’s personal life hasn’t been devoid of controversies. That doesn’t and shouldn’t take away what he achieved on the field.
