“Money Doesn’t Mean Nothing”: Giannis Antetokounmpo Sets the Record Straight on His NBA Priorities

While the profit is an inevitable part of the effort being put in, Giannis Antetokounmpo made it clear where his priority and focus lie.
With a 32-50 regular-season record, the Milwaukee Bucks’ playoff dream ended even before it could begin. However, Giannis had something to be happy about, unless he made clear how little that meant to him.
“Money doesn’t mean nothing to me. Zero. Absolutely zero. What means something to me is winning”, the Bucks’ star said. It was about him having a $275M supermax extension this summer. “That’s too far away. It’s something I have to sit down with my family and see what’s best for me.”
Averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists this season, the Bucks Forward hadn’t played a game since March 15. But seeing the team getting flicked off from the playoff scene was worse than the injury setback.
The 2x MVP led the franchise to its first-ever championship in 2021, breaking the half-century “no-title” curse. But the Bucks haven’t won a playoff series since 2022, and in front of that, the supermax doesn’t stand.
For now, Giannis is moving with one intention in his mind. But given the frustration he expressed about the organisation, it’s a question what the next season will look like for the Bucks.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Dispute With the Bucks
The knee injury stopped Giannis from hitting the paint for some reasonable time. But while he saw the Bucks losing their playoff tickets from the sidelines, the 6’9 Forward couldn’t help but let out his feelings.
“Being cleared to play, I don’t understand. I’ve never in my life denied participation in practice,” Antetokounmpo said. “Whoever came up with that is disrespectful towards what I’ve done for this team and the way I carry myself.”
Despite playing the practice games healthily, the team kept sitting Giannis, excluding him from the games when it mattered the most. And this led him to say that the “players in general don’t have any control” over their games.
So, moving forward, do you think he’d stand by till summer to receive a supermax extension? Comment it down.
