It’s been a month since the NBA free agency kicked off. So far, the league has seen big names change teams in blockbuster moves, including LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jaylen Brown.

However, there are still big names waiting for a fresh contract with their previous teams or a new one. Some names on the list are perfect choices for teams looking to add depth while dealing with a salary crunch.

With that in mind, here are the top nine names remaining in the 2026 offseason free agency.

9. Bruce Brown (URF)

Every championship-caliber team needs a player like Bruce Brown. He is the glue guy every contender craves—a hustle defender with championship pedigree and enough scoring touch to punish bench units.

Last season, he averaged 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 38.5% from the 3-point line. Brown can be a great bench addition.

According to PFSN, the Nuggets and the Lakers have come out as potential landing spots for Brown.

8. Russell Westbrook (URF)

Russell Westbrook is still worth a shot in the NBA. The 9x All-Star is yet to receive an offer from any team in the league, but is still capable of high-quality bench minutes.

One of the teams that needs a certified point guard is the Miami Heat. Last season, the primary point guard role was taken up by Davion Mitchell, who is returning for another season with Miami.

But pairing Westbrook’s elite passing with Adebayo’s interior presence and Giannis’s scoring could unlock Miami’s half-court offense.

7. Bradley Beal (URF)

Just five years ago, Bradley Beal averaged 31.5 points per game. While he is not the old version of himself anymore, Beal is still a walking 15-point contributor.

Last season, he appeared in only six games for the Los Angeles Clippers before going through a season-ending hip surgery. Before last season, he averaged 17.0 points while shooting 38.6% from the 3-point line.

As per NBA Insider Brett Siegel, the Heat had emerged as one of the favorites. The Celtics are also being considered as one of the landing spots for Beal.

6. Jonathan Kuminga (URF)

The Atlanta Hawks declined the $24.3 million team option in Kuminga’s contract. It means he is free to negotiate fresh deals with other teams.

Kuminga is an athletic scorer and rebounder with wing-defender upside. He is also being linked to teams like the Lakers, the Cavs and the Heat.

5. Peyton Watson (RFA)

NBA fans may be surprised to find out that Peyton Watson is a free agent. After last season’s outing, the Nuggets showed interest in keeping Watson on the roster and offered him a fresh deal.

However, there are no reports of a new contract yet.

Last season, Watson had a career year. He averaged 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 41.1% from the 3-point line.

4. Bennedict Mathurin (RFA)

Mathurin was traded from the Pacers during last season’s trade deadline. He played 26 games for the Clippers, averaging 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. In fact, he is considered one of the brightest young talents in the league.

It won’t be long before Mathurin becomes a free agent. The New Orleans Pelicans have expressed their interest in signing him. But there is a very high likelihood that the Clippers would re-sign him.

3. DeMar DeRozan (URF)

A certified scorer at every level, DeRozan has very little to prove during this offseason. The Kings released DeRozan in July, despite him averaging 18.4 points and shooting 50% from the field.

ESPN insider Shams Charania previously reported the Cavaliers, Nuggets, Wizards, and the Heat had expressed their interest in the 6x All-Star.

2. James Harden (URF)

Harden rejected his $42.3 million player option and is still looking for a fresh contract. Although he is expected to return to Cleveland, the team’s front office and “the Beard” haven’t reached a deal yet.

While Harden’s struggles were glaring during the past season’s playoffs, he is still considered an elite regular-season player.

1. Jalen Duren (RFA)

Duren’s four-year rookie scale contract ended last season. The Pistons would have immediately signed him to a fresh contract, but after his poor playoff outing, heavy negotiations were expected.

However, Duren is still one of the best centers in the NBA. Reports suggest that the Pistons are ready to offer him between $35 and $38 million. If so, it will make him one of the highest-paid centers in the league.
