Rich Paul Reveals Ty Lue's Challenge to LeBron James That Led to Cleveland’s Championship Win

In the 2016 finals, the championship slipped away as the Cavaliers were down 7 to the Warriors at halftime. What took place during the halftime break, as narrated by LeBron James' former agent, Rich Paul, changed the situation completely.

Speaking on Game Over, Paul revealed what former Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said to James during that critical halftime break.

"LeBron didn't have the best half. But in the moment, T Lue really challenge him in that locker room. I wasn't in the locker room, but T Lue told me, and obviously LeBron told me that he challenged him and was like, Hey, basically tell him I need more from you, like literally I need more from you."

The situation demanded urgency, and the numbers confirmed it. Cleveland was losing 42-49 with the halftime score, and had an overall game field goal completion of 40.2%. Cleveland needed their star player to respond in the biggest game they ever played.

Paul elaborated further. While still conversing on Game Over, he explained just how much he valued the locker room conversation.

"I'm telling you right now, Max, I really believe this if T Lue does not have that conversation with LeBron in that locker room and challenge him in that locker room. We don't get the block."

The block Paul described has been forever memorialized in the history of the NBA. With less than two minutes left and the Cavaliers leading by one point, LeBron James ran down Andre Iguodala and famously blocked what would’ve been an easy two points.

The Cavaliers would go on to win the game, and the series, 93-89, completing the first 3-1 comeback in NBA Finals history. LeBron went on to finish the game with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, playing nearly the entire game at 47 minutes.

That 2016 championship may not be the last chapter LeBron writes in a Cleveland uniform.

LeBron James' Next Move Could Bring Him Back to Where It All Started

Now that James is a free agent, NBA organizations need to scramble to sign the 41-year-old, who averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds during his 23rd season, to an NBA team to help him play one more season.

Cleveland is circling. An NBA source told Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson, "Unless the Lakers offer him max money, which it currently doesn't look like they will, the Cavs have a chance to sign him."

Cleveland’s timing is perfect. The Cavs are the most needful as they were recently swept by the Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals and need a jolt. James brought the Cavs their only ring in 2016 and is from Akron.

As that source noted to Robinson, the reunion is very much alive, and LeBron brings the winning player with the most championship experience to help Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley.

LeBron’s playoff numbers shore this up. He averaged 23.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in this year's playoffs over 10 games.

Comment down if a LeBron homecoming to Cleveland is the storyline the NBA needs right now.
