76ers' Tyrese Maxey Sends Powerful Praise For Luka Doncic

Mar 25, 2026, 9:24 PM CUT

Fans pay attention when top NBA guards talk, and Tyrese Maxey did. The 76ers star recently talked about Luka Doncic, who is averaging more than 33 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists this season. His stats aren't just great; they show why players think he's so unique.

"They call him Luka Magic for a reason. Only he can do some of the things… He's magical, and that's how I feel about Luka. He's a great basketball player and a great person as well, " Maxey said during his appearance on The Tonight Show.

That praise fits with how Luka Doncic is playing right now. He is in the running for MVP and recently became the first player in NBA history to score 30 or more points in nine straight wins. His average of 33.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game shows why his peers see him as having a unique impact.

Luka Dončić's impact is clear even when things don't go well. He scored 32 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists in a recent game, where he was responsible for most of the offense.

Even though he wasn't very good at shooting three-pointers, he kept his team in the game by scoring and making plays at the right times, which added to Maxey's "magic" label.

That person's great work has also led to success for the whole team. The Lakers are 46-26 and still in the playoff picture, with good matchups coming up.

Luka Doncichas a great chance to make his MVP case stronger and keep getting praise from other stars as he prepares for important games against top teams.

Philadelphia 76ers keep playoff push alive without Tyrese Maxey

Just a few weeks ago, it looked like Philadelphia was done. Tyrese Maxey fell, Joel Embiid was already out, and Paul George wasn't there.

It seemed like the season was going by quickly. But instead of giving up, the 76ers went on a 5-3 run, moving up to the No. 7 seed and staying close to the playoff pack.

Quentin Grimes is the clear face of the turnaround. "Can I just point out that recent Mavericks trade piece Quentin Grimes is putting up humongous numbers since Tyrese Maxey went down? I'll just say he's had a whole bunch of really high-level performances," Brian Windhorst said. That rise hasn’t gone unnoticed across the league.

And the numbers prove it. Grimes is averaging 22.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in eight games. His 31-point game against Portland showed how sure of himself he is now. He's not just filling in; he's leading stretches and keeping the offense going.

There are still problems in Philadelphia, though, because some key players are out and the East is very competitive.

But Grimes has brought the right amount of energy and stability at the right time. He has kept the team competitive during a tough time and changed the mood around this season.
