Despite an early exit and no postseason presence, Steph Curry traded his Warriors jersey for Balenciaga at the Met Gala. The Golden State star was off the hardwood, walking at the Costume Institute alongside his wife, Ayesha Curry.
The superstar couple walked the Met Gala, stepping out and complementing each other with all-black Balenciaga outfits. Despite a minimal look, the couple matched the event’s theme, ‘Fashion Is Art’.
Steph Curry kept the mood light. Speaking to Zuri Hall on Monday at the event, he said, “On one hand, I love it; on the other hand, that means I’m not playing basketball right now.”
“It’s fun to have a different crew and crowd of guys that I compete against showing themselves in the fashion world,” Steph added.
The four-time NBA champion was not the only hooper at the event. A’ja Wilson, Angel Reese, Warriors teammate Jimmy Butler, and Dwayne Wade also made an appearance.
Curry wore a hooded black coat over a black suit, keeping it plain and simple. Ayesha, on the other hand, donned a black strapless dress over a bodysuit.
Over the years in the league, the superstar couple has made it a routine to make frequent appearances at major off-court events. They can be spotted at tennis events like the US Open, concerts, and reality shows during the off-season.
Moreover, this wasn’t their first Met Gala appearance. Five years ago, they walked the 2021 Met Gala, donning a fitting outfit for the theme, ‘Lexicon of Fashion’.
While Curry and the Warriors move on to next season, the NBA playoffs have reached the Conference Semifinals.
Playoffs move on without Steph Curry
With the Met Gala event taking place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, three miles away, the Knicks and Sixers are battling it out at the Garden.
Although it’s a one-sided affair with the NY side offensively dominating, the Sixers have come in with great confidence.
The first round featured several high-stakes matchups, with two 3-1 comebacks. The Sixers eliminated the Celtics in a TD Garden Game 7 clash. Meanwhile, the Pistons pulled off a similar story against the dominant Orlando Magic.
At the same time, the OKC Thunder and SA Spurs look poised to have a deeper playoff run after their commanding first-round victories. And the Lakers wait, as they hold their breath until Luka Doncic returns to the mix.
For the Warriors, they have a lot to ponder this offseason.
Steve Kerr hasn’t finalized his stay with the Dubs, as the latest link-up with Warriors' owner Joe Lacob didn’t materialize into an extension.
