Historically, there has rarely been a time when the Warriors and Stephen Curry experienced public tension. But the mutual agreement between the star and his team might be hanging by a thread after the failed LeBron James signing.

With Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody recovering from big injuries, the Warriors spent this offseason in search of a superstar. According to The Athletic's Marcus Thompson, Curry might have had enough of waiting for Mike Dunleavy to pull a blockbuster trade.

"I think he’s probably tired of the star chasing," Thompson said on the Dirty Work podcast.

First it was Giannis Antetokounmpo, then Anthony Davis & LeBron. The Dubs now sit empty-handed. Once LeBron decided to move to Philadelphia, it changed the calculus for the Warriors.

"Just put together the best team because it's got to be exhausting constantly having this hope pinned on you and then looking around and saying people saying this is not enough, right?" Thompson said on the Dirty Work podcast.

As free agency is winding down, the Warriors are left without a move to revive their next season. Now, they heavily depend on Butler and Moody's recovery. They will also hope that Kristaps Porzingis is healthy next season.

For now, Curry will most probably enter next season without much hope.

As time passes, Curry is facing the same reality as every other superstar. While he wants to win another championship, the Warriors' ownership has other plans... their future.

Warriors insider suggests Joe Lacob is planning beyond Stephen Curry

Curry is still an elite offensive force. Pair him with another big star, and he can guide the Warriors to a fifth title. But according to team insider Tim Kawakami, Warriors owner Joe Lacob is already looking beyond the Curry era.

"What Lacob wants to do, and this might get Warriors fans mad. He wants to build the next team after Steph Curry," Kawakami said on the TK Show on Saturday, July 25.

The Warriors fans have grown up with Curry's relentless entertainment. Any plan to sideline him while he is still playing won't sit well with them, and perhaps backfire.

“I don't know how possible that is, but Lacob has a very keen interest in…this organization's going to show what it can do with Steph Curry and then after Steph Curry," Kawakami added.

Sustaining the glory of an organization beyond its biggest star hasn't been possible for almost any team. At least for the next five-six years.

The Bulls failed after Michael Jordan, the Cavaliers failed after LeBron, and the Lakers weren't a playoff team until LeBron arrived. The Celtics have been relevant throughout because they have avoided being a superstar-centered franchise.
