Something unusual happened under the arena lights after the final buzzer. And it left Stephen Curry truly surprised on the court.

In the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament on April 15, 2026, the Warriors pulled off a comeback to secure a 126-121 victory against the LA Clippers. Curry scored a game-high 35 points and hit seven 3-pointers. After scoring 16 points in the 3rd quarter, Curry added 11 points in the final nine minutes to bag the Prime Video Playmaker Chain right after the game. 

His brother and Warriors teammate, Seth Curry, did the honors. Seth draped the chain over his brother's head and joked, “I got some ice for you!” While watching his own highlights on the screen, he told reporters, “This is definitely a new one. I love that my brother got to give it to me.”

This chain is awarded to the standout player of Prime-broadcast games, a unique sponsor activation by Amazon. This marked the very first time Curry received the honor. Other young stars like LaMelo Ball and Tyrese Maxey have worn similar chains in the past. 

Curry is used to holding up championship trophies. Yet, moments like this show a different side of Curry’s greatness.

Rare Times Stephen Curry Received Iconic Gifts

One of the most famous examples came from hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg. Shortly after Curry won his 4th championship and the 2022 Finals MVP, Snoop honored him. He gifted Curry a pendant. Snoop placed it around his neck and said, “Had to give the MVP his D**** Row chain.” 

Back in December 2016, Curry met a pediatric cancer patient from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The young fan gave him a handmade necklace with actual small Christmas lights. Curry proudly wore it during his post-game press conference. 

Public moments like these are rare, and the Playmaker Chain is the latest addition to this short list.
