Stephen Curry Steals the Show With New Brooks Glycerin Kicks as Warriors Star's Continues Recovery

Mar 20, 2026, 3:04 AM CUT

It wouldn't be an understatement when one says that Stephen Curry is currently the most sought-after marquee sneaker free agent in the NBA world.

Ever since his deal with Under Armour ended in November 2025, the Warriors star has been seen in multiple sneakers from Nike and ANTA, among others. But those instances were more of a tribute to basketball history and culture than signs of potential brand deals.

That being said, Stephen Curry, despite recovering from patellofemoral pain syndrome, was seen sporting the Brooks Glycerin Max 2 while shooting hoops during warmups in Boston.

Could this move mean that Stephen Curry is considering working with Brooks? Maybe.

But why would a star like Curry turn his back on the sneaker mega brands that are courting him to work with the relatively smaller Brooks? Simply put, legacy.

Stephen Curry Could Carve a Unique Identity by Signing with Brooks

Every star athlete wants to etch their name in the exclusive world of sneakers, with Michael Jordan and LeBron James being the gold standard.

Jordan and James, apart from being once-in-a-lifetime talents, cemented their legacy in the sneaker industry with their unmatched cultural and commercial dominance.

By signing with a relatively smaller brand like Brooks, a generational player like Stephen Curry would not just be able to negotiate ownership equity. He would have greater creative control, which is harder to achieve when collaborating with large brands.

Curry would also become a prominent face of the brand while owning a stake in the business, engaging in a legacy play that is uncommon in the sports-sneakers market.

But realistically speaking, a talent like Stephen Curry would be looking to partner with someone who has global reach and possesses the resources to elevate the Curry Brand to scale like the Jordan Brand.

Brooks, while being innovative in the running segment, lacks the basketball culture, heritage, and global infrastructure to compete with brands like ANTA and Nike.

Having said that, there haven't been any updates from Stephen Curry's camp, and the sneaker choices, as of now, seem to be love letters to the culture.
