The Washington Wizards are bringing back a design that fans loved years ago, and the design also pays tribute to one of the most famous seasonal traditions in the capital city.

Currently, the NBA's trend of using City Edition uniforms to show off cultural identity also goes with the essence of the Wizards' new colors. The Wizards authorities shared an X update disclosing that the side will reappear in the popular Cherry Blossom uniform.

The snap in the X update displayed the Wizards' No. 3, Trae Young, sporting the majority pink with blue ends jersey. Its caption read, "OFFICIAL: The Washington Wizards have unveiled their 2026-27 NBA City Edition uniform, highlighted by the return of the team’s Cherry Blossom uniform."

The team's announcement, made with the help of Nike and the NBA, says that the uniform first came out before the 2022–23 season and quickly became a fan favorite.

The return keeps honoring and celebrating Washington D.C.'s beloved cherry blossom season, which is a cultural tradition that defines the city's springtime.

When the original Cherry Blossom uniform came out in 2022–23, it got a great response from fans. The Wizards decided to bring back the design elements for the 2026–27 season because they were so popular. The base color of the jersey is bright pink, and there are cherry blossom silhouettes along the sides.

The design is balanced by white accents, and deep blue ombre shorts represent flowers that are reflected in the water of the Tidal Basin. The "i" in the Washington wordmark has a cherry blossom icon on it, and the three blossoms above the NBA tag honor the stars on D.C.'s flag.

Hunter Lochmann, the Wizards' Chief Marketing Officer, said that the team was excited about the return of the uniforms.

"We are thrilled to work with Nike and the NBA to bring back this popular NBA City Edition uniform for the 2026-27 season. We were excited when we debuted these during the 2022-23 season and know the fans and city will be happy to have them back as one of our uniform sets."

The new uniform has some updated features for the 2026–27 season. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the NBA City Edition program, new NBA logos and Nike swoosh designs have been made. The Wizards will use City Edition-themed uniforms and a matching court for the first time.

But while it remains to be seen how they perform in their retro jersey in the 2026-27 season, the squad recently overcame a major hurdle in the ongoing one.

Washington Wizards End 16-Game Losing Streak

Forget about the noise about jerseys; the Washington Wizards finally gave their fans a real reason to celebrate. They ended a painful 16-game losing streak with a strong 133-110 win over the Utah Jazz.

And it wasn't the usual stars who led the way. Instead, the rookies stole the show and changed the mood right away.

Juju Reese and Will Riley made history by playing without fear. Reese scored 26 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, while Riley added 19 points and 10 boards.

They were the first rookie pair to both get double-doubles in the same game since John Wall and Jordan Crawford did it in 2011.

Utah didn't go down without a fight. Cody Williams scored 24 points, and Blake Hinson scored 21 more as the Jazz went on a late 23-0 run to cut the lead. But just when things got tense, Reese and Sharife Cooper made some big plays to end it.

Washington looked in charge right from the start. They never fell behind, and in the third quarter, they took a huge 37-point lead while dominating rebounds 56-40.

This young group really fought hard, even though Kyshawn George was out. They will try to do the same thing in their next game against the Golden State Warriors.

But do you think they will be able to repeat their feat successfully?
