“We Could Do It”: Spurs’ Star Sends Fearless Warning to Defending Champs

The San Antonio Spurs moved an inch closer to their title dream after sending home the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals on Friday. They have booked their final conference against the OKC Thunder, and Stephon Castle believes that his team can take down the defending champs.

Ahead of the WCF matchup, Castle didn't deny the big roadblock that sits between his team and the title chances.

“The game they had were totally different games. They’re rolling right now; they have won eight straight. They’re the defending champs. We know it’s gonna be tough to knock them off, but I think we’re pretty confident we could do it.”

Castle came up big in Game 6 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored a game-high 32 points to ‌lead the Spurs’ offense, shooting 11 of 16 shots from the field and 5 of 7 from the 3-point line.

The Thunder has been perfect in this playoff, sweeping the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first and second rounds. However, the Conference Finals series will likely provide a much tougher test.

Victor Wembanyama had a decent yet efficient game. He had just 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.

This only indicates how deep the Spurs' roster really is. The Thunder might have met their most challenging opponent this season.

With both teams playing at a high level, the series remains unpredictable.

NBA analyst gives his verdict on WCF series between Spurs and OKC

After their regular-season matchup, the Spurs vs. OKC conference finals series became a dream matchup for‌ NBA fans.

The San Antonio Spurs won their 2025–26 regular-season series against the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-1, including an NBA Cup semifinal victory.

The 3-1 road split and the tournament victory paved the way for a much-anticipated match-up in the 2026 Western Conference Finals.

The Thunder has now met a formidable opponent that could put a big break in their perfect playoff run. Given how great both teams are, it is hard to pick one team over the other. The NBA analyst Jon Krawczynski predicted that the Spurs would win the series in seven games.

"What a treat this series is going to be. These two teams do not like each other. They will tear each other limb from limb. Ultimately, I think Wembanyama’s two-way greatness will be just enough, but I certainly wouldn’t bet on it. Spurs in 7.”

While the Thunder team has ‌depth beyond limits, Wembanyama is expected to be the difference-maker in this series. While the Thunder remains the best offensive team in the NBA in this playoff, the Spurs have the best defensive rating.

However, the Spurs have shown inconsistency in their offense, and the Thunder's defense can capitalize on that.
