‘Wemzilla Is Underwater’: Victor Wembanyama Stuns Fans With Pre-Finals Routine

A year ago, after facing the ‌lowest phase of his career, Victor Wembanyama was on Mount Song, training with the Shaolin monks in China. Now that the San Antonio Spurs star is on the verge of sitting at the top of the NBA, fans were moved after learning about his underwater training session.

A video posted by Overtime on X on May 31 featured the NBA star training underwater. Wemby held dumbbells in his hands and walked inside the swimming pool. The video also featured the Spurs' big man trying different breathing techniques.

The video has gone viral on social media right before the NBA Finals between the Spurs and the New York Knicks. The Knicks, of course, don’t have a player of Wembanyama’s stature.

Given his incredible talent and also his big physicality, the 7-ft-4-in Frenchman spends a lot of energy in any game. If the Knicks can pressure him to work with more energy, they might be able to limit Wemby’s production on both ends.

Wemby’s fatigue was all over the screen during the OKC Thunder series. He looked completely gassed in Game 5 and barely operated on either side of the floor. But it seems like Wembanyama has already sensed the challenge ahead of him.

And fans couldn't have had enough of Wemby's uncanny training technique.

NBA fans react to Victor Wembanyama's special training

A plethora of fans took to the comments section of Overtime's X update to express their opinions about Wembanyama's special training method for the finals series.

One of them put up a Godzilla comparison, writing, “Wemzilla is underwater, headed to destroy New York.”

A fan used this opportunity to troll the Thunder's Chet Holmgren for failing to meet expectations against the Frenchman throughout the WC Finals series. His comment read, "Meanwhile, Chet is watching videos of seals from Fisherman’s Wharf.”

Another fan had a wild take on Wemby’s training. “Bro training like he's preparing for the NBA and a military deployment at the same time,” he stated.

Some fans also predicted a clean sweep of the Knicks in the finals. “He’s blowing the Knicks out 4-0,” one of them commented. However, not all fans were impressed with the Spurs’ star’s training and asked him to stick to on-court training.

“Da hell he doing all that for the game will be playing on land, dam fool,” one fan commented.

So, while most fans clearly think that this training method will improve Wemby's performance in the finals, do you think he will be able to lead his team to the title? Let us know in the comments.
