“Made Your Career Off of Switching Teams": Drake Savagely Disses LeBron James on New Track '1AM in Albany'

Drake recently dropped new music and this time, the rapper appeared to have taken shots at LeBron James with his latest release. Last night, Drake surprised fans by releasing three albums in one go: 'Iceman', 'Made of Honour', and 'Habibti'.

Even before the release, anticipation for the track ‘1AM in Albany’ rose after portions of it leaked online, hinting at‌ Drake’s diss at the Lakers superstar. However, the diss released under the title ‘Make them remember’, where a particular line caught everyone’s attention.

“I shouldn't even be shocked to see you in that arena, because you always made your career off of switching teams up.”

This line appeared to reference LeBron James’ attendance at Kendrick Lamar’s concert in LA.

Notably, it was during the peak of the rap feud between Lamar and Drake. Ironically, the song came out after Bron completed 8 seasons with the Lakers. It was the longest time that the superstar spent with a team in a stretch.

Over the years, LeBron James and Drake shared a close bond. The Canadian rapper has be spotted courtside at Lakers' games, with LeBron attended several of his concerts. However, some question that their friendship took a hit after James openly vibed with ‘Not Like Us’.

There was another reference as well.

“Please stop asking what’s going on with 23 and me, I'm a real n****, and he’s not. It’s in my DNA.”

While DNA appeared to be an obvious reference to Kendrick Lamar’s popular song, "the rest of the line spoke volumes about his friendship with Bron. "23" is a reference to King James' jersey number for the Lakers, and this might sound the end of their friendship.

Drake has a favorites in the NBA, LeBron just dropped off that list.

While Drake dissed LeBron James, he praised Steph

Drake, on the other hand, showed some love to Stephen Curry in the track ‘2 Hard 4 The Radio.’

Notably, Steph had openly sided with Drake amid the rap feud, calling him “family” and adding, “We are all on the same boat.”

Moreover, there was a viral moment when LeBron James and Stephen Curry came face-to-face in the Drake-Lamar rap feud. During the 2024 Olympics, the arena blared with ‘Not Like Us.’

While the rest of the squad visibly enjoyed the game, Curry intervened and said, “Damn with this song. It’s not the only song in America.”

In response, Bron said, “I love it.”

Drake seemed to have returned the love in the new song.

“Back when they was asking about where Davidson was at… now everybody got a blue 30 on they back.”

It’s a reference to Curry’s college and his jersey number.

Moreover, the new releases also received a lot of love from fans and celebrities. Especially, Trae Young reacted with a goat emoji, writing, “Nahhhhh it’s officially time,” via his X post.

Do you think the LeBron-Drake feud will be burried, or will Kendrick Lamar retaliate? Let us know in the comments.
